David A. Edwards, Jr.,
president of Edwards Steel, has been named the 2007 BX Cornerstone
recipient.
A longtime member and
supporter of the BX, Edwards has been involved in the industry for more
than 30 years.
The award, considered
to be the highest honor presented by the Central Ohio construction
industry, recognizes an individual’s leadership contributions to the
community, the industry and the Exchange.
A
third generation member of the BX, Edwards’s grandfather, J.T. Edwards,
Sr. and uncle, J.T. Edwards, Jr. both received the award before him (in
1957 and 1974).
Edwards served on the BX
Board of Directors for eight years and was a founding member of the BX
Youngbloods, serving two terms as President.
In addition to his BX
involvement, Edwards served as president for the Architectural Metal
Manufacturers of Ohio and the Steel Fabricators Association of Ohio.
He is a past board member of the Ohio Structural Steel and
Architectural Metals Association and is currently a member of AGC, ASA and
the American Institute of Steel Construction.
Other organizations
Edwards has been actively involved with include the Franklinton Board of
Trade, Upper Arlington Athletic Association, St. Ann’s Hospital
Foundation, Boy Scouts of America and First Community Church.
Edwards was named as
recipient of the Cornerstone Award by the BX board of directors, based on
the recommendation of the Exchange Cornerstone Award Review Committee. The
recipient is chosen based on achievements in the following areas:
The Cornerstone Award
will officially be presented to Edwards on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the
Aladdin Temple when he will be honored among his peers at the BX Annual
Meeting.
The
2007 BX Cornerstone Award Review Committee was made up of seven members
including Parr Peterson, chairman, (Paul
Peterson Co.), Todd Alexander (Continental
Building Systems), Brian Dew (Mid-City
Electric Co.), Bill Eubanks (DeFabCo,
Inc.), Don Leach (Buckingham,
Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP), Mark Setterlin (R.W.
Setterlin Building Co.) and Gareth Vaughan (The
Albert M. Higley Co.).
